MANHATTAN — The list of places you can't smoke just got a little longer.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed a law Monday prohibiting smoking on all MTA platforms, extending the ban to Metro-North and the Long Island Rail Road.

"It is important that commuters are not unwillingly subject to the dangers of second-hand smoke while waiting on train platforms," Cuomo said in a statement. "Exposure to second-hand smoke can lead to serious health problems for non-smokers and this law will make outdoor MTA train platforms, ticketing and boarding areas a cleaner, healthier place for all commuters."

Smoking will now be banned at the ticketing, boarding and platform areas of the stations.

A smoking ban at city parks and beaches went into effect in May.

At least one commuter was not so enthused with the new ban.

"When bums stop pissing & sleeping on the platform I won't smoke!" tweeted @theamazingPeebs.
