MANHATTAN — Police arrested a suspect wanted for carrying out a Manhattan mugging spree that claimed victims across the West Side.

Stephen Brown, 43, of Brooklyn, was charged with robbery, grand larceny and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with a series of robberies where he threatened victims with what appeared to be a gun, police said.

Brown allegedly stole five cell phones, two MP3 players, at least $378 in cash and 2009 Toyota during the two-week spree, police said.

The string of robberies numbered 14 as of Wednesday, though Brown has only been charged in connection with eight of the incidents, police said.

The spree began on June 10, with muggings on the Upper West Side, Midtown, Chelsea and TriBeCa, police said.

Two of the most recent incidents occurred in Brooklyn, including one next to Brown's Bedford-Stuyvesant home.
