UPPER WEST SIDE - Community Board 7 voiced support last week for a proposal to ban cars in Central Park, according to a published report.

"It was never designed to accomodate automotive traffic," said board chair Mel Wymore, according to the New York Post, during a meeting Wednesday.

The board, which has repeatedly backed the proposal, is among a growing group that supports the five-month trial plan to forbid auto traffic on East and West Drives.

Despite the backing of Board 7 and Midtown's Community Board 5, the city has not agree to a test ban period.
