MANHATTAN - There's room for improvement, but not much else, in the MTA's newest buses, according to a published report.
The fleet of diesel rides, which cost taxpayers $45 million, have less headroom and legroom than their counterparts from the late 1990s, the Post said.
Near the rear windows of the Nova Diesel Standard, there is 61.5 inches of clearance, compared to 69 in the older Nova RTS model.
That's barely enough space for someone who is 5-foot-2.
They also have a mere 7.5 inches of legroom per person for seats that face each other, compared to 10 inches in the older model, the paper said.
The new buses hit the streets last month.
