EAST VILLAGE — A street sign named after the late Ramone’s singer Joey Ramone had to be raised eight feet after being stolen repeatedly, the New York Post reported Monday.

"Joey Ramone Place" is the most often purloined sign in the city, having been nabbed three times since 2003, the Department of Transportation told the Post.

The sign, located on Bowery and East 2nd Street, now towers 20 feet above the street, causing some concerns about pedestrians being able to see it.

"But maybe they should find a better way to attach it," the groups former drummer Marky Ramone told the Post. "Now you have to be an NBA player to see it."

Joey Ramone Place is just up the block from the former CBGS’s location, where the punk rock scene got its start in New York.

The other most stolen signs reportedly include Broadway, Wall Street and Love Lane.

"It's a really nice tribute to a frontman who started the genre we call punk rock," Marky Ramone said to the Post.
