SOHO — Thou shalt not block intersections.
Two nuns on their way home to New Jersey were given a $150 traffic ticket for blocking the traffic box at the entrance to the Holland Tunnel Monday afternoon.
Two traffic agents were waiting around the corner, hidden from drivers' sights as the traffic crawled toward the tunnel. When the light turned red, they darted from their hiding place and issued tickets to anyone stuck in the intersection — even those that reported to a higher power.
"We hadn’t moved in over 15 minutes," said passenger Sister Catherine Healey. "When we finally moved forward we got caught in the traffic."
The driver of the vehicle asked to remain anonymous.
"I don't want to give my name out, I still have to go to court," she said.
When asked how it felt to ticket a nun, Traffic Officer Jiang took the vow of silence.
