MANHATTAN — Goodbye sunshine, hello monsoon.

Manhattan's week of springtime weather will be all washed out this weekend as a storm brings several inches of torrential rain and chilly temperatures to the area, meteorologists said.

The storm will move into the city beginning Thursday evening and continue for several days. More than 3.5 inches of rain may fall over the three days and could possibly causing flooding, according to the National Weather Service.

The rain is expected to be heaviest Saturday through Sunday evening, effectively dousing any outdoor weekend plans for Manhattanites, many of who had become used to the pleasant spring-like weather of the past week, even dining al fresco.

Meteorologists have forecasted cooler temperatures, too — highs on Friday and Saturday could only reach into the high 40s.

Manhattanites may also struggle with their umbrellas as the storm could produce wind gusts higher than 45 mph, forecasters said.
