MANHATTAN — The staff of Apple’s New York City retail stores can relax for the moment as the company announced on Friday that it is delaying the U.S. launch of the iPad tablet computer until April 3.
Apple spokeswoman Natalie Harrison did not elaborate on why the launch had been delayed, although there are rumors of an “unspecified production problem,” 1010wins reported.
When the iPad was first announced on January 27, the company told consumers worldwide to expect the gadget in late March, 1010wins said.
The cost of the iPad will range from $499 to $699, depending upon how many gigabytes of data storage the device has.
Apple-loving New Yorkers hoping to avoid the in-store crowd can pre-order online beginning March 12, according to the company’s website.
