MANHATTAN — Police were questioning a possible suspect in the fatal armed robbery of an Upper East Side jewelry store, according to published reports Thursday.

Nine of the 66 pieces of expensive baubles taken from the store were discovered in Brooklyn, sources told the New York Post. The discovery of the jewelry led police to question 'a person of interest' — identified by the Daily News as a Washington Heights man — on Wednesday.

Jewelry store worker Henry Menahem, 71, was gunned down during the robbery on Jan. 27.

The thief got away with $1.2 million worth of jewelry in the heist.

The NYPD would not confirm that a suspect was being questioned, telling DNAinfo that the investigation was ongoing.
