Upper East Side Bar Fined For Selling Wisconsin Beer

MANHATTAN — One spotted cow strayed a little too far from home.

An Upper East Side sports bar was fined thousands of dollars for illegally carrying the Wisconsin microbrew "Spotted Cow."

The State Liquor Authority confiscated cases of the beer from Mad River on Third Avenue and E. 82nd Street earlier this month because the bar did not have a license to sell "Spotted Cow" outside of Wisconsin, according to the New York Post.

The State Liquor Authority promptly returned the beer to the cheese state, but not before fining the sports bar a total of $20,000.

Mad River is popular with University of Wisconsin football fans, the Post reported.

The SLA received an anonymous tip that the bar was selling the beer, the paper reported.
